Drinking Water
UV Disinfection of Drinking Water
UV disinfection is popular around the globe for drinking water treatment, largely due to the fact that, unlike chlorine or ozone (bromate), it doesn't produce harmful disinfection by-products, and it doesn't alter the taste or odour of the water. Pressure from Governments and environmentalists to eliminate unwanted chemicals from the ecosystem, whilst providing pathogen free water, is also driving interest in UV disinfection for drinking water treatment. Even at low doses, UV provides a 4-log inactivation of chlorine-resistant pathogens such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. UV is used worldwide for drinking water treatment and as an additional Cryptosporidium barrier.
Berson UV Disinfection systems are used around the globe in drinking water, wastewater and water reuse treatment plants. Berson's UV systems are validated to the most stringent third party approvals, including DVGW, USEPA, NWRI and NSF.
