Davey UV Disinfection-Steriflo
Davey UV Disinfection systems are ideal for farms, small businesses, guest houses, commercial properties and large homes. Davey are well known for their pumps and filters, and now they are leading the industry with their compact units combining pumps and filters with UV disinfection systems. It takes all the complexity out of your water treatment. Either choose a complete unit with filtration, pressure pump and uv disinfection in the one completely enclosed weather proof case, or if you already have a pressure pump you can opt for a system with filters and uv system ready to mount in your pump room or other sheltered area.
So, with Davey you can choose from:
- Pressure Boosting & Disinfection System- The Aquashield MAX is a self contained package that contains everything you need to provide safe water from rainwater tanks, including the pressure you need to deliver the water, filters for removing sediments, and the UV water treatment lamps.
- Stand Alone UV Disinfection Units- The Steriflo is ideal if you have already met all your pressure and filtration needs and you are looking to disinfect your water with UV.

Steriflo UV Systems
Any business, farm, or larger householder looking for safe, secure, chemical free water should consider a Steriflo UV system. UV treatment is not just for drinking water, it is also ideal for treating water used in food production, fish breeding or anywhere where safe, chemical free water is needed.
The Davey Steriflo UV system works by exposing micro-organisms to UV light. The Ultraviolet disinfection lamp sterilises viruses and bacteria. The water treated with the Steriflo UV disinfection system is chemical free, safe to drink, has no odour and no flavour. It is is also safe to use and impossible to overdose.
Source water containing sediments can "shield" micro-organisms from the UV light of an ultraviolet disinfection system, so the Steriflo is best used on clean, clear water to ensure all micro-organisms get full UV exposure for complete inactivation. So, it is best to compliment your Steriflo UV system with Davey filters removing any sediment before the water is treated with UV light. The Steriflo UV system is best place in your line after any other treatment and just before use.

Looking After Your Steriflo
It's important to keep the Steriflo light source clean. Mineral deposits on the lamp sleeve are common and should be cleaned off every 3 months or more frequently if the water is hard. The sleeve is easily cleaned with CLR solution. The UV lamp should be replaced every 12 months to ensure an adequate dose of UV light for inactivating micro-organisms.
The Benefits of the Steriflo UV Disinfection System
Bird and animal droppings can contaminate your rooflines with micro-organisms such as viruses, bacteria and paracitic cysts. UV light generated at 254 nanomaters inactivates micro-organisms by damaging their DNA and without the ability to reproduce they can't cause infection in humans. Passing filtered water through a Steriflo unit exposes the organisms living in rainwater tanks to a dose of UV light sufficient to inactivate the majority of common water-borne threats. The Steriflo UV treatment leaves NO residual chemicals in your drinking water and it's not possible to overdose.
